LAST MONTH
Oasis International celebrated Spring Break Week with an exciting and enriching lineup of activities for our youth, beginning with a trip to the Roger Williams Park Zoo and its planetarium. This experience allowed participants to enjoy wildlife, fresh air, and hands-on learning. Throughout the week, youth engaged in a blend of education, trending topics, and fun with their peers

The week kicked off with a day at the Roger Williams Park Zoo & Planetarium. Youth explored exhibits, connected with nature, and enjoyed a full day outdoors

Youth visited the Rhode Island College office of the Rhode Island Black Heritage Society and Museum. They toured campus exhibits, met curators and educators, and gained deeper insight into African American history and heritage. Special thanks to Theresa “Soni” Guzman Stokes- Executive Director. RI Black Heritage Society

Youth traveled to the Boston Science Museum for an enrichment program sponsored by the University of Rhode Island’s Mechanical/Industrial Systems Initiative. Youth explored the world of science, including emerging developments in artificial intelligence, through engaging, hands-on activities.

It was time to jump into action at Launch Trampoline Park. This high-energy day gave youth a chance to stay active, build teamwork, and simply have fun.

The week concluded with the Oasis Youth Summit, a day dedicated to education and empowerment:
- Health Awareness: Yugerny T. Gomez from the Rhode Island Department of Health Tobacco Control Program led a session on menthol awareness, focusing on the dangers of vaping and tobacco products, and the importance of prevention among youth. The presentation on menthol awareness greatly enhanced our youth’s knowledge and understanding. We are truly grateful for the support and collaboration, which played an essential role in the success of this year’s summit.
- Vaccine Confidence: Amber Delgado presented on the importance of immunizations, emphasizing how vaccines protect individuals and communities. A powerful documentary highlighted the global history and impact of vaccination.
- Financial Literacy: Cheryl Galloway of Bristol County Savings Bank led an informative session on money management. Youth learned about credit scores, budgeting, responsible spending, and the importance of financial planning.
Overall, the 2026 Spring Break Week provided Oasis youth with meaningful experiences that combined education, personal growth, and recreation. The program left participants with valuable knowledge, positive memories, and tools to help guide their future.
